I have followed Master Chef for a long time, even as far back as Lloyd Grossman's time.
With all these cooking programmes have you been inspired to try meals like the ones they do.
Some of the dishes are so fiddly and faddish I often wonder why bother, yet others really do inspire.
I was really impressed with the latest Junior Master Chef, damn those kids could cook
So have you tried to cook like them and if so how did it work out.

I love watching the programmes, Simon, but I think you're right about the fiddly and faddish, but they sometimes amuse too (the carrot cake in a flowerpot that we were discussing last week).
I am also amazed at what they achieve in one hour - I know I couldn't!
It is good viewing - and no, it doesn't inspire me to do the things they do, although it does give me ideas!
