I had a Saturday job in Woolies on the till and had to add up the purchases in my head then ring up the exact amount and work out what change was needed.

And that is precisely why I didn't have a job in Woolies!

I'll try that again!

I lived in London  from aged 5 till I moved out here at the age of 49 so my Saturday & holiday job from the age of 15 was in a coffee bar in Kensington. It was very well known for it's visiting internatioal folk-singers who performed there. It was a heady experience for me & I think it set me up for my later travelling lifestyle. I loved it & all my school-friends were green with envy !

Excvellent, Bob. The style on that lady at the head of the queue is eyecatching though. Sort of distracts from the main theme. I wonder how long they stayed in business . . whistle

Aly, I did too - amazing the number of things people used to put in their little basket - I often wondered whether I had added it all correctly. This was a bit of a promotion (eeek) as I was serving on the broken biscuits before that !!! big_laugh   big_laugh  (Imagine someone buying those now! ponder )

Thanks Hattie, I sort of knew I'd be wrong...

Val, I would buy broken biscuits if I could, there was always so much more choice in a bag of broken ones.

I'll try that again!

You can still get them. usually the market and some supermarkets sell them pre packaged. Our village shop sells them, they're called Dunkables

I must admit,Bob, that I rarely eat biscuits so have never sought out the broken ones.   It's good to know that they are still available.

I'll try that again!
