I just had to share this, my granddaughter and her mum and other grandma were in the supermarket shopping yesterday, walking down the aisles the 2 yr old suddenly pipes up nanny senile, her mum had to quickly explain that she was pointing to the cereal boxes on the shelves and was saying cereal.
Never give up Tomorrow is another day.
My daughter at the age of three or four in the supermarket said please can I have some sweets.
no was the firm reply from me
why? She said

If I agree with you, then we would both be wrong.

Last time my daughter took the smalls down to the beach the youngest had hardly started talking. Last week she put their wellies on and marched them right down to the water's edge. "Oh look, look."said little Nicky. "PUDDLE"
Shut up, I'm counting
Yesterday, walking down the road with Orna, she pointed to some wheelie bins which had blown over and were lying on the ground. She proudly said 'bins asleep'.

Ah, Bless.
But even better : two words that make a coherent sentence sentence. And she has done rational thinking to put together an explanation for the fact that the bins are not as they should be, and also knows which way up is right for them.
You should swell with pride over her!
Shut up, I'm counting
Things with their eyes closed also get called 'asleep'. We know someone with a one-eyed dog and when the dog was facing her with its 'bad eye', Orna kept saying it was asleep, even though it was walking around.

Just had to share this with you. My daughter came yesterday, and she was laughing, she said " Mum, you will have to stop winding Louis up, he has been telling kids at School , that you were in the Air Force, that bit is true! and that you shot down enemy Planes in the War, you've got a Bullet proof Vest, and he thinks you're still wearing it!"
Time to get her into Jim Butcher and the Harry Dresden files...she'll have much more to tell them at school....
Who lives long sees much : The diary of my life in Bulgaria
Grandson, 20 months is beginning to try words. Currently everyone and everything is 'cat'. Apparently he will be slow to speak due to being bi lingual. He also loves my iPad and once he has gone I have to try and work out how to correct what he has changed!
Trying to enjoy life as it is
He may not be slow to speak Aly, my nephews have a german mother and english father, Nikki only spoke german to them, Andrew only spoke english and the nanny only spoke spanish, they were both very quick talkers and now at 5 and 7 the both speak german, english, spanish and french.
