No, not the spooky one's, What we all did for a Living, before we retired, as most of us must be retired, to have time to post on here.
I am a trained Nanny, got my N.N.N.C. worked in Thetford, then went to work for the Duke of Norfolk's sister. Got fed up, worked at a Children's Convalescent Home, not terribly good with suffering children, and saw some awful sights, burns, mostly Wanted to travel, so joined the WRAF, to see the world. And see it I did. I served in Egypt, and Iraq, married a Career Airman, we were married over the Flag, by the British Consul. In Baghdad.
Also trained as a nurse, a real SRN! Complete with silver buckle, starched cotton cap and apron!
Left NHS in 2001 and embarked on medical sales. Finished as national account manager and accrued enough private pension with final salary scheme to retire in 2009.
Am now living a simple almost money free life and am the happiest I have ever been!
Trying to enjoy life as it is
I also saw the world.......but not as a nurse or anything so noble. I was a designer in the theatre, sets & costumes. I specialised in dance design (although earlier on I did a lot of work in opera & plays etc). I also taught the subject when I had the time. It was a great life as I often worked on newly created pieces (both modern & classical dance). Later in life I also ran my own restaurant for 5 years, having eaten my way around the world !!

I'm a long way off retiring age but I no longer work either. Nor have I seen the world or been anything noble........I was a humble secretary - in a bank, building society, Social Services department and then (my longest stint) as PA to a Chartered Building Surveyor.
learning to love veg…..except celery :-O
Not much to tell, really - after leaving grammar school, worked in banking in the City, and in the computer department (computers were a bit more bulky then - ahem!).
After the children were at school, I worked as a medical secretary for some years - medicine and why people get ill has always held a fascination for me.
We then left the UK and OH worked in Holland - I didn't work there, just enjoyed the continental life - joining the British Women's Club and the American Women's Club in The Hague.
On my return to the UK, I decided to study for a degree, which involved the 'medical' fascination and taking it a bit further by studying chemistry, physics, a lot of biology and human health, and also brain and behaviour.
Met a lot of people through this learning, and stayed friends with them. I would recommend anyone to do this as it keeps the brain active - although I sometimes wonder about mine(!) - and at the same time gives a bit of knowledge! (One gentleman, who was in his mid-seventies, was also doing his third degree - he just loved the learning and the people!)

Wow Hattie, bet you could tell a few stories.
You bet, but I am quite discreet about them as some of the dancers, choreographers etc were/are very famous & I would hate to hurt their feelings. Designing a new work is very exciting, full of pitfalls along the way with a lot of emotions flying around. I still miss the challenge of working with a large group of talented people making a work to show to the public........when/if it is successful it is a wonderful & very special experience.

I had to get married off Camp, 50 miles away in Baghdad, 50 miles in an old beat up Taxi, with a mad Iraqui Taxi Driver, we had to keep stopping cos the engine was overheating. Could not have got married on Camp, as certain members of Aircrew, said when the Minister, asked if there was any just cause that these two should not be married, they would tell him, and they were just mad enough to do it! gotta laugh now, it was a proper fiasco!
