Beautiful clematis ToffeeApple.

My purple one hasn't flowered yet. The white one has but something's eaten some of its petals 🙁

Lovely pictures, but I can't read all of this page now. I think it happens when TA puts text along side photos...RunAway

Hold on, text alongside photos?  I deliberately moved the picture down the page so that I could put the text first. Perhaps I'll delete some of the blank space to see if that helps.  Curiouser and curiouser...   DAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNY!

Barbara, are you able to right click on the post and open it in another tab/window?

I'll try that again!

How sad, Shereen.  Have a look for insects on the plant and squish them. But you have something to look forward to.  I noticed yesterday that I must have a Leaf-cutter Bee in the garden.  Last year, the birds gifted me a Buddleia and the leaves have great semi discs cut out of them, I'm so thrilled - it doesn't take much to make me happy does it?

I'll try that again!

TA, no, I can't right click on it, at least so far. I will try all the options I can think of to do it. This page is ok so far, but the first and third in this thread are not.

I will go and look at my clematis instead. One is in flower, one was very early (small, many-petalled flowers), another looks like it should be out soon. But I am most pleased that the 2 I bought at Great Dixter last summer have both survived. They are late summer flowering, and one is scented. One died back not long after flowering and didn't regrow and I feared I had lost it, but this year it has regrown and is outpacing the slugs and snails. They are planted at the base of a flowering cherry, and I hope they cover it in flowers in August or September.

You've been to Great Dixter - was it wonderful?  What the name of your scented Clematis?  Isn't it great when things come back from the brink?  All these questions...Roll_Eyes

I'll try that again!

Does this work:

..... for hoopoe and turtle dove ....... both are zoomed in from original photos, so not as clear as should be.

Ok

Wave Thanks Val, they are great. WellDone   Wish we had hoopoes here. It must be lovely watching them. Magic  I have a pair of collared doves that are becoming quite happy to share my company or maybe I should say suffer it.  I can get so close  and then they are off with whirring wings.

Hi Danuta - we saw the hoopoes again today, with parent feeding young one, though daughter was taking photos - and I'm not sure whether she managed to catch it. I'll wait till they download on to the PC, then select some. In France they are called poopoos, it is their call that sound like their name!!

Oh dear, I had a mouthful of tea when I saw this!  What a hoot BS, thanks for that.  Love the birds too, you are so lucky to have them visit you.

I'll try that again!
