When relations visit my home

Slave Sis is my sole living relative in the UK. She is coming to stay for a week tomorrow with my twin pug nephews. They are nine years old and still a nightmare. They eat, or try to eat anything that they come across. Twice they have been taken to the vets to deal with 'Gross overeating'. When this overeating happens, they sit in the bathroom looking pained and very fat! Over the past few years they have eaten 9 kilos of chicken feed and around six kilos of very expensive, low fat, dog food. And so much more...

The low fat dog food sack sits happily on the floor in the sitting room and is never ripped apart by my dogs. Also Sir Bertram Puskin would never dain to serve himself from the sack of cat food that sits beside his plate!

Once the pugs ate an entire Christmas cake that was waiting to be iced. It took three minutes. Search Results last minute christmas cake | The Cottage Smallholder

So, with their arrival, I have to organise the cottage carefully.

They are arriving at 6.30 pm tomorrow. I will be up at 7.00 am!

Well it's me again! I have decided that I'm going to make my cake Christmas this year! Slave Sis said 'No'. because she prefers her cake - dark and in my opinion not nearly so good. Even if I'm the only one to enjoy my cake it will be fine. At least I won't have to pretend that her cake is delicious. What do you think???

Well now – internecine disputes have had a gazillion causes down through millennia but this may well be the first based on Christmas cake preferences. doh

A Nobel Prize Peace award winner might possibly suggest baking two cakes – one from each discipline. peace

A fair compromise might be to invite Sis to bake her own preferred version. chef

As the energy cost to you would undoubtedly outweigh the cost of ingredients, you could invite her to buy them herself too. You could even drive her to the supermarket! whistle

I am available to advise on similar issues at any time. No need to thank me. cheers

I have reached an age where my train of thought often leaves the station without me...

There have been developments!

Slave Sis has asked me to make my cake as she doesn't want to bake one this year. So I will be munching my fave cake this year - that's if I can protect it from the Pug Nephews ;0)
