I have just been watching some Longtailed Tits in one of my trees, such tiny things.

I'll try that again!

I got a round Chrome topped Bird Feeder for Xmas, and it was put up straight away. Today I have seen the Sparrows using it for the first time, they always need to get used to anything new, and I thought the Chrome bit, might scare them. The Starlings are fighting on the Bird Balls, as usual, have just had Mealy Bugs put out on the Bird Table for a treat.

Coming up my road just now, a red kite landed in front of me to pick something up. Managed to stop and it flew off. Beautiful bird.

They are magnificent in flight Aly, so elegant and acrobatic.

I'll try that again!

We once saw them on mass in wales when they were being fed in the late afternoon- dozens of them came swooping in and dived for food. I di not realise how big they were until seeing last nights countryfile programme on the BBC- John Craven was reporting on the new releases in the North West of England and a trained handler brought one of the, now released, birds to show him-smaller than a buzzard, but much bigger than a sparrow hawk would be my estimate.

Are we having fun yet? I am!

There is a place near Oxford where there are so many in the air at one time that they sky looks dark.  They come down so low that you can see how big they are.

I'll try that again!

Fox did a run through the garden yesterday. Dogs did their bit and all chickens present and correct. Had to retrieve one from the bramble patch!

It is because Bruno is half Boxer, he knows his family which includes the chickens and he is very protective. It is his nature!

I am guessing that you can't make your garden fox-proof?

I'll try that again!

We are bordered by fields and woodland. At some point we will fence more solidly but it has to wait. The brambles block some areas.

Seth, won't Jean let you watch the otters on her computer if you ask her nicely and give her chocolate?

Jean, I have never seen a Grey Wagtail, only ever the Pied variety.

I'll try that again!
