Thanks Eileen. I used to make sourdough a lot years ago and then stopped for some reason, only just started doing it again about a month ago. So far I've made 3 loaves from the starter, they've all been very good, somewhat to my surprise! They haven't yet got the full sourdough tang, but that becomes more pronounced as the starter ages. Sorry to hear you've got a wheat allergy....I have a wheat intolerance which is more of a problem if I'm going through a stressful period or my health is a bit below par. That's one of the reasons I started the sourdough again....I tolerate it much better. Not tried it with GF flour though, I have no idea if it would work. Why don't you give it a go?
learning to love veg…..except celery :-O
Chocolate Victoria sponge. First half in the halogen, second to do!
I also used to make sourdough bread and loved it! Might just get another started.
Trying to enjoy life as it is
I like these cookies recipes)
1)Chocolate chip cookies are America’s most favorite cookie. This eggless version of cookie is very easy to make even for the beginner bakers. This this the recipe for the eggless chocolate chip cookies for the people with food allergies.
2) Has it ever happened to you that when getting ice cream the only thing you really, really want is the waffle cone? If the answer is yes, this wafer cookie recipe is you solution.
Today, is the Marathon 'Cake Bake' for Hampers, will only be 'Fruit Loaf' , but everybody, loves it and it keeps well.
8 OZ SR FLOUR
8 OZ MIXED FRUIT
4 OZ SUGAR
1 EGG
1 ROUNDED DESSERTSPOON GOLDEN SYRUP
SOAK FRUIT IN TEA FOR A FEW MINUTES, NO NEED TO STEEP LONGER.
BUNG EVERYTHING IN BOWL,
ADD AS MUCH TEA AS YOU NEED TO MAKE A 'SLACK BATTER'
PUT IN LINED LOAF TIN, BAKE, AT 350 FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. TEST, SHOULD BE DONE.
ENJOY WITH LASHINGS OF BUTTER!
Glad your OH liked it , Sue, never met anybody that did not, and it is almost as nice, if you are on a Diet, no need for Butter.
Made Shortbread yesterday, should explain, it is my Nemasis, never made a decent, real Shortbread, apologies for Shortbread, plenty , but yesterday, was going to be, the Day everything changed! Unfortunately, the Gods were not smiling on me, and am supping my Tea, and enjoying a nice crisp buttery Biscuit, not Shortbread, have given up, will stick to Mary Berry's 'Fork Biscuits', quick, easy, and Delicious. Can't remember it offhand, but so handy, will put it up, soon.
I made some apple turnovers today, with the windfalls from our tree.
I found a nice recipe that made the apples a bit caramelised prior to filling the turnovers:

They will go in the freezer to be eaten when we need a dessert !
