Just take a look at this Dan Leppard article in The Guardian last Friday. I am mad on chocolate, especially the dark bitter kind.

I think these biscuits would make lovely little gift packages at Christmas, or hanging on the Christmas tree, tied up in cellophane;very chic¦¦!!

My waist gained an inch just looking at it

I know the feeling Aly, I think I am going to have to rapidly forget about it or the inch I have recently lost will be found again. Having said that, I do love chocolate... will I be able to resist?
Ooh, yes, that looks tasty. The trouble is, we've got lots of other chocolate based puddings which we also want to make at some point... but I've bookmarked it for later.

I think I am going to be very naughty today & make some of these coffee & cream brownies to ring in the New Year tomorrow. I feel like having something sweet & rich & I have all the ingredients to hand. They look pretty too.
I had very simple food over Christmas, delicious but mostly vegetables or fish. I put most of the fancy stuff into the freezer because I just did not fancy it......I won't have to shop for a while, that's for certain !
Happy New Year everyone.

yum, will need to gather some ingredients but will do these soon. Will be great with coffee. I have an expat friend who is demolishing a wall that needs rebuilding in February. I cannot help with the work but I will be providing cakes for the workers, this will be on the menu

Sounds interesting! Was that a bought dessert or a home-made one?

I think this might also be your kind of dessert Hattie link. We have this on a regular basis at our local hotel and it is heavenly. In the hotel's case they serve it with an artistic arrangement of an alcohol infused sauce and a few drops of chocolate both arranged on the plate, along with a roll of chocolate - kind of looks like a straw.
MMMMmmmmmm !! You are so right Joanna......and they use a few eggs, good news as I have more than I need at the moment....an idea for this weekend if I can find the little dishes....I think I packed them away. Thanks for passing on the link.

You're welcome . Hopefully later on in the year, I shall be enjoying an abundance of eggs.
Another chocolate based cake/dessert. A Chocolate & Prune Cake by David Lebovitz, so it is sure to be good. I have some prunes sitting in brandy at the moment but another time I will try some of my apricot harvest from last year that I preserved in vodka. I think cranberries would work well too (I have put them in Christmas Brownies in the past....yummy).
