can anyone please help!
I made a vast quantity of sloe gin two years ago. I froze the sloes in the freezer and then pricked them with a needle etc. I used the cottage smallholder recipe
But this batch is REALLY tart and REALLY cloudy. I have filtered it through melita coffee filters to no avail.
I really do not want to throw it away, but even leaving it so long, it is pretty much undrinkable.
Any suggestions gratefully received.
I'd say the same as TA, add more sugar to taste. I make it most years and have never had this problem, sorry, I do the same as you and freeze the sloes first, but then don't bother with the pricking as freezing softens them enough that the skins aren't a problem.
i then make sloe gin jelly with the sloes and cooking apples when I strain it..lovely stuff
