My two year old sloe gin has never clarified.... I have tried filtering it to no avail. Today I am trying Kwik Clear - wine and beer finings.. a two part process of Kieselsol solution (whatever that is?) and gelatine solution.
As I have three litres of the stuff, I am reluctant to dump it.
For the record, it is very tannin tasting - VERY! I have never had this problem before and use your recipe, so wonder where I went wrong? Apart from the tannin - and once your teeth have recovered - it tastes great but it looks HORRIBLE
Any help gratefully received.
It is a long time since I made Wine, but think it was cleared by Eggshells, don't ask me how. But remember Ionce made Elderberry Wine, and like yours, it was full of Tannin, and tasted awful, so threw most of it down the Sink, but one Bottle escaped, and went to the back of the Cupboard, three years later I found it, had a sip, and it was the most wonderful Wine ever. Wine fresh made, never tastes like it will when matured. Good luck.
