I am the same Nadine, but perhaps not quite so much research. Then again when I start it always evolves as one idea triggers another. I rarely end up with what I set out to do. Yesterday was a bit cool and so in the afternoon I went to our other apartment where my fabric stash is and started pulling out pieces of fabric which attracted me and I was working on doing something along these lines

Image Enlarger

Only I thought of using blocks of fabric. I then started off dying some fabric with a teabag and then found some onion skins and threw them in as well and ended up with some pretty vibrantly yellow pieces of fabric. I now think I shall dye some more fabric and make some large sunflowers to go on the blocked background. cheers

Am longing to start on machine patchwork but have to wait until there is somewhere to put my sewing machine. Meanwhile I am gathering recycled fabric.

In response to TA in  a Self- sufficiency thread, yes, I'm still sewing.

Currently working on Ch******s designs- though, given the current weather, that doesn't feel as mad as it should. The Ch*****s ranges of fabrics are out next month, so need to get designs ready to use for them.

Been very busy designing and making stuff, it would seem that one of my designs is going to be in "Popular Patchwork" soon and another in "British Patchwork and Quilting". I'm also teaching various classes to make some of my designs, so what with designing, making prototypes, writing out patterns and instructions and teaching I'm a tad busy....was hoping this side of my little business venture would take off, but wasn't expecting it to do it so soon or so suddenly- had hoped to have a bit more time to work on designs...all the stuff I'm making appears on the blog ( see below), I do pop in here regularly, but usually rather late at night when unwinding before passing out for the night!

Also have to get some painting done- Bucks Open Studios in June-YIKES!!!!!!!!

The place I adopted Bruno from is the usual good people trying to do their best with little help. As a fundraiser they asked people to make a patchwork square dog related and it is being made into a queen sized quilt that is to be raffled. It is beautiful and a lovely idea for a good cause. The 4 red Setters abandoned by callous English people I mentioned a while back were rescued by this new venture and found homes in England. If they had been left here they would have been put down as that is the policy of many French rescue centres. The couple I picked Bruno up from paid £1,000 of their own money to rescue the setters. I am now inspired to start quilting myself.

I know what you mean Kate,  but it has brightened up somewhat now.  I hope it gets better soon.

I'll try that again!

Not sure if this comes under 'Patchwork' - but here is my very first fabric journal, made for Vicky who will be running in The Race for Life, supporting Cancer Research.

She has been quite poorly over recent years, and many operations, and is still only the same age as our own daughter.

I wanted to do something special for her.

big_hug to Vicky.

Congratulations.

Also well done to Vicky for running in the race to support Cancer Research. I am sure she will love your gift.

Beautiful, and it is patchwork. I would love to receive something like that and am sure Vicky will love it too. There is so much talent on this forum.

Thanks girls - I had a call from Vicky last night - she loves her journal! She is coming to visit on Saturday with her Mum.

(Discovered last night that her Mum is going through chemotherapy, with an operation pending. Of course, I then realised Vicky's reason for running in the Race for Life.)

I am so glad I made it for her now. big_hug
