i live alone and dont have much washing, by friday evening it mainly consists of 5 shirts trouers and underwear, now i loathe the idea of putting the washer on for 5 poly cotton shirts and the few other bits n bobs so i bought me a wonder washer! it got named the nappy bucket! a bit more labour intensive than the auto but i can do all my washing in less time than it takes the auto to do one cycle - you just have to apply the old twin tub principle, i usually do the shirts then trousers then underwear and just use the big washer for the spin - most of the weeks wash in under an hour,it works for me anyhow.....
just use the big one now for the towels and sheets.
