Recently discovered Aronia which is meant to be a superfood and is popular in Eastern Europe and in the States as it's got 3x more antioxidants than Blueberry. Got my plant off Cooltemperate (in Nottingham) for about £8 and am keen to find out how it'll fare for me. It doesn't require acidic soil and it's meant to be v hardy. The foilage is quite pretty, small reddish tinge to them and they're budding already.. Apparently, you can't eat them fresh as they're v tart, but mixed with other fruits, i'd hope that'll they'll taste nice. If not, then they'll have to be cooked..
If anyone's growing this already, I'll be v interested how they grow in the UK and what they taste like..
thanks in advance..
Agroforestry research station grows them and they say the flavour is good when cooked in
pies
