I purchased a Caseille bush a year ago and stupidly mislaid the care instructions that I got with it.
It grew a bit bigger last year but with no sign of any flowers or fruit. I'm not sure whether it was supposed to fruit in the first year or not??
I didn't prune it over the winter as I wasn't sure if I should or not, and it is now budding up again ready for this year.
Is there anything I can do to ensure it gives me a crop this year? Should I have pruned it and if so is it too late to do it now?
Any advice would be gratefully received!!
Makes it a Jostaberry then treat as a blackcurrant , don't prune this year , blossm is very small and can go unnoticed but is self fertile , liable to be damaged by frost unless protected..
Seed catalogues are responsible for more unfulfilled fantasies than the web and playboy combined . (after Michael Perry)
That is so true, TA, and I wonder just what it is that makes CSH such a great site for like-minded people. I feel I know so many people who I would regard as friends - yet I've not met them!!!
