Well all mention of freebies has gone from that RHS page now so I guess they have their 10,000.  Wonder if any of us dropped lucky?

Remeber BBC Dig In goes live on Monday.

I just received my free seeds - tomato and carrot from the RHS.  In the pack there was also recipes cards, a wall calendar and planting guide , a book mark  and a container growing guide.  Well worth  applying.

 Thanks Ruthdigs  Big_Hug

I sowed some of mine today, just a few salad seeds and four beans.  I shall do the carrots next week I think, not sure if I want the courgettes, I eat them so rarely.

I'll try that again!

Its amazing what courgettes can be used in when you have a glut. Cakes, soups, as a filler for stews, casseroles, roasted etc etc etc Cheers

Oh you are so right Joanna.  I love growing them.  They are so versatile, although I have never used them in a cake.

Use them instead of carrots in a carrot cake recipe or try this recipe

http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/zucchini-bread.....f0c957b56a although I do tend to reduce the amount of sugar in it.

(oh yes for our American friends courgette=zucchini)

My seeds were at home once I got back Thursday last week as well, forgot to say Toffeeapple.  Doh  Glad people were successful with them, it says all the internet ones are gone now on their website, although you can get them at their roadshows.  Star

Marinated raw courgettes are heavenly - a similar recipe, see here:

http://vegeyum.wordpress.com/2009/10/30/marinated-zucchini/

I didn't use the mozzarella as in this recipe, but toasted pine-nuts with mine - gorgeous.

Another recipe - if you're not too keen on pastry - a spaghetti bolognese pie, using courgettes !

Line a greased pie tin with thinly-sliced courgettes (in round slices), and pour into it a cooked bolognese mix, with the cooked, broken spaghetti already mixed-in.

Bake in the oven for 40 mins - 180C, and then turn out on a platter/plate.

Simples.

Sorry, the one that I did use was the recipe from Fiona Doh
