It was a bit warmer this afternoon, so my gardening today consisted of cutting down two wickedly thorned roses that grew out of control last year, and digging out what I would consider useless foliage plants from the central oval bed in my back garden. I have cut to the ground two identical plants, but their roots are very firmly imbedded, so I will leave trying to dig them out for another day. This will be my fruit, veg and herbs area mainly- it will get supplemented with stuff growing in tubs as well. Also upped a dead conifer. The bin for recycling garden waste is now stuffed. I gave up when my hands started going numb. Good achievement though.

There is a central shrubby thing, which will need a chain saw to cut down- another day!

Are we having fun yet? I am!

I was busy doing a similar job to Hannah.  Have a satisfying bonfire heap made up from all the pruning and lopping.  Had to give up when my hands and shoulders were aching.  OH has been asked to help with some heavier work which will need him to get the chainsaw out but it's more important for him to finish the door for the tunnel.  Unfortunately he's discovered a second door now needs replacing so he'll be busy for a few days.

Been out cutting down  Mint, Parsley, Rosemary, and Bay, so am sitting having a Cuppa, smelling all Herbie, it's lovely. Taken some Bay cuttings, as it is such an expensive Plant to buy, mine is now a big Tree, bought many Years ago as a Baby, cost me twelve Pounds then, so people are always glad of a bit. Hoping to get to Dobies, Sunday, with my Mother's Day, dough, clutched in my hot little Paw.laugh

wave Been down at the poly tunnel for a meeting this morning.  Also saw to our own beds, putting in extra compost.  Will add some top spoil and leaf mould next week, ready for all our new seedlings to go in later on. Our group planted fruit trees this morning too - apple and pear which we shall espalier on posts and wires.  I supplied the tea and pancakes while they did the hard work!!  big_laugh
