I've been trying to upload a picture from my hard drive.  I've reduced it right down to 50 pixels but, although it said it was accepted and I refreshed, etc, it doesn't show in my profile.  Frown

What am I doing wrong, please?

Thanks, S.O.L. - the answer came to me this morning first thing!

Joy - first, the obvious: are you using the same email addr on the Gravatar site as you used to register here?

Did you respond to the confirmation email they sent you? Is that what you mean by "it said it was accepted?" If you did not receive it, then check your spam folder.

er - Gravatar site???

(which, I guess, is the answer to why it's not working)

I just did it through here - changing my profile, or whatever it's called)

No worries, Joy!

We switched off the facility to upload images to our server because I have seen how the storage requirements of a forum can swell to ridiculous proportions over time. Maybe the "my profile" page does not explain that, so sorry if you wasted time trying to upload your image. I must test it myself and see how it misled you.

lol, don't panic it took me ages to fathom it out but it all clicked when I went on the gravatar site as instructed by Danny

but even then I was not convinced it had loaded my pic as it took a while - anyway it is there now for all to see!

Just been messing about as I could not remember my password then kept typing in my email instead of user name.........................got in eventually Laugh

loved the flowers/doll's head Laugh (I too thought it was a bunch of flowers but then my eyesight is getting worse)

I've only just got my avatar working - I kept trying to upload it in the edit profile page and kept wondering why it didn't work. I had a look at the gravatar site and since I remembered setting up a wordpress account ages ago, I used that to log in, added my new email address, and uploaded the piccy.

Success.

I tend to use different something@ email addresses for various websites and forums (fora?), so the quail won't follow me around unless I tell it to Wink

Nice one, Bob.

I bet there is a story behind your choice of moniker?

I didn't know about having to use teh gravatar thing either, until reading this, and spent a wee while fiddling to try and upload an image directly. But I thinkI've done it now so am posting this to check.

We keep quail, mainly for the eggs. The avatar is one of our Bobwhite Quail, hence my forum name. I  thought it was relevent to the forum Wink
