I know there are a gazillion keyboard shortcuts for many tasks but I have never bothered to learn them.
Many of us know common things like using Crtl C to copy and Ctrl V to paste.
Here are two that I use all the time:
Enlarging and reducing the font size
Many sites delight in using the smallest size of typeface possible, or so it seems.
Ctrl + enlarges the typeface and Ctrl – reduces it
(that means hold down the CTRL key and then click the + key)
Navigating to a .com web site
In your browsers navigation bar, where you type in the URL (web site name), instead of typing in, for example, http://www.xyz.com you can just type in xyz and then press Ctrl Enter
That automatically adds the prefix of http://www and the suffix of .com
Anybody else got simple tips like these that they use all the time?

I thought the Ctrl + and - was only in Firefox, does it work in other things as well? Also, Firefox has the 'awsome' bar which shows several options if you just type in one letter. I've never taken any time to actually learn anything that my computer can do - apart from the basic basics.
I'll try that again!
I use Ctrl + and Ctrl - in Safari too and Ctrl 0 returns it back to normal. Have to be careful with keyboard shortcuts as I have a Mac and they differ but for me the following proves useful Ctrl Z deletes the last entered typing, Ctrl X deletes what you highlight but also copies it so you can post it somewhere else. Ctrl B makes it bold, Ctrl I changes it to italics, Ctrl U changes it to underline,
Same here, Joanna - Ctrl X deletes highlighted text, and Ctrl C will copy text, and both of those can be pasted by using Ctrl V.
Ctrl O is open; Ctrl S is save; Ctrl P is print
These are the ones I use!
Not sure if this is the right place to ask a question, but, I have noticed that sometimes when I post a reply, there appears a yellow box saying
New Post Saved (or something like that ...)
Other times, the same box will say
New Post Saved - Notified subscribers
What does this mean, exactly?
No worries, sparky. This thread is fine to ask questions in.
"Notified subscribers" means - anybody can subscribe to a thread and receive all new posts in that thread by email without having to come back to the forum to read them. So you simply added a post to a thread that has email subscribers.
That's all.

ZAP!
I had to laugh last night when I wrote that response to BS because Fiona walked in at that point, read my screen over my shoulder and remarked: "Oh! It's sparky now, is it?" In a laughing mode.
I shall revert to formal address henceforth, and refer to the said sparky as BS

Hello Danny - sparky here - notice something?
Yes, it's me, logged in and on-line!
What happened with your maintenance outage last night - my Explorer access and login is restored! Thankyou, one most high! Â
I thought I'd said goodbye - for good.Â
But no, malheureusement, you have me back again, and still causing trouble!
