OH came home last night clutching a large tub of fab blackberries a customer had given him.
The conversation went something like this: " Does ya missus bake?", OH say's 'er yes she does' (thinking buns & stuff) " aye well tek some of these for er", plonking said tub of blackberries into OH hands. (OH) 'oh, thankyou very much, I'm sure she'll put them to good use'
And off he trots.
So, if anybody has some bright ideas with what to do with them please feel free.
Lucky you!
Ice cream, B. and apple crumble, fruit compote, dried either whole or as a fruit leather, as part of a chutney, jam, jelly, B. and apple pie, frozen whole or stewed. Gin or vodka.
Fool? There is an American recipe called Apple pandowdy, you could put blackberries in that, too.
Enjoy using them

A late 'summer pudding'- just use your blackberries and perhaps some damsons withredcurrants and strawberries or any other soft fruit you can lay your hands on... cook them gently in some fuit jelly and ( stir it slowly to dissolve the jelly) use as a sauce with ice cream. Or make a bread and butter pudding and put a layer of the blackberries and some cinnamon underneath, brown sugar and cinnamon on top...or left over croissants/brioche broken into chunky pieces stirred ip with some brown sugar, cinnamon and the blackberries, pour over a mixture of whole milk/cream and beaten eggs, sprinkle with cinnamon, sugar and a few dots of butter...apple and blackberry crumble...make a frangipani paste, put a layer of the blackberries on the bottom of a tart dish, sprinkle with sugar, put the frangipani on top, pressing it down so the berries stick into it, cook....they freeze brilliantly so no need to use them all at once.

Kate it's first thing in the morning and I have no access to blackberries, do you have to put all that lot . I will have to get a bramble bush for next year I think. At least I have the space for it.
I did that very thing two years ago Joanna, put one in a tiny space beside the drive where not much else will grow ,got a wonderful crop this year, find one that tastes really good and root a shoot from it.

I have kept a look out for wild blackberries here in Latvia and never seen them but the locals say there are some, but haven't been able to establish where yet.
I could root a cutting and send it!
