Hi im new to growing my own veg and am hoping to have planty of veg to make into a chutney. I will have tomatoes courgette broccoli and cauliflower. Obv i can buy any other if i need to but would like to have a go at making something. Does anyone have a simple easy recipe i could try? Also how long does it last for once jarred up?
I have made a chutney with tomatoes and courgettes but not broccoli or cauliflower. The recipe I used which worked quite well was Glutney by River Cottage and has the advantage that it gives a range of ingredients you can use and as the name suggests how to use up the gluts in the garden. The link is here. Fiona has made quite a few chutneys too but not sure they have the same ingredients you mention but if you use the search you can look them up.
Chutneys are certainly an excellent way of using up gluts. I have used them to use up green tomatoes after I had to pull them all due to blight.
Hi jojo - Joanna is right. Fiona has posted many chutney recipes over the past four years (almost). Do a search for "chutney" but ignore those article titles that do not contain the word "recipe".
For a mixture of veggies, this one works really, really well - take my word for it, - it is fantastic!:
