What's a jawspringer? Sounds rather unpleasant.

The Mushroom Soup sounds a great idea, and just right for people coming in from the cold.  Pity about the  Television bit, was getting excited thinking I was going to witness you winning the Thousand!    Sorry, Eileen, but think you need a lighter Pud as well, have eaten many a Cranachan , well, never managed all of it! it is so rich, and they will be stuffed after the hearty main, but that is personel preference, and as you say, you know your friends well, maybe they could manage it. xchefwave

Jawspringers are hard springy lumps, often get them in sausages too...turns my stomach and puts me off whatever I'm eating if I get one.

never had cranachen before but I always thing it sounds gorgeous which is why I wanted to give it a try.  Still completely dithering with the ideas and the girls will be expecting a menu to be issued in the next few days, really need to decide on something then stick to it.

You will have to have the Venison, in hand, so to speak, before you can decide. Nothing worse than the meal looming and no Menu.  Cranachan is very rich, you really ought to do a Dummy run, before deciding on that, mostly Cream, Whisky toasted Oats, and Raspberries, lovely though, have you got the Recipe.?

Right ladies! a complete change of plan....

decided on a homemade Chinese takeaway theme! made a few of the dishes a couple of weeks ago when we has a couple of friends to tea for Chinese New Year, so tried and tested.

i made a really easy ( and delicious) crab and sweetcorn soup, they brought half a crispy duck and pancakes, the I did a few mixed dishes.

one of the dishes was Beijing Lamb, it was done with shoulder meat and it was gorgeous, when in get a mo, I shall stick the recipe on here.

will probably do something like a choc fondue for desert with lots of fruit to dip in it., I know it's not Chinese but the Chinese aren't particularly big on puddings.

Have some sympathy for the one in the paper today who gave birth to a 7.1kg (almost 16lb) sprog photo of it in 'The Times' yell

Seed catalogues are responsible for more unfulfilled fantasies than the web and playboy combined . (after Michael Perry)

Blimey...

not been thinking about the CDWM this weekend, will have to get my head in to gear about it and start getting some sort of shopping list written up.

intended to get some shopping done on Saturday, but when I went in to selby to make a start, I realised I had left my credit card on the last shop I was in on Friday whilst in York, ( due to being very preoccupied as I hade Mrs H with me and she was being a bit of a pain, the poor dear.). So shopping was curtailed as I made a dash back to Morrisons in York.

The Chinese CDWM was a great success last night, the girls all ate until they could eat no more and then took Chinese takeaways home for other halves.

i did :

crab and sweetcorn soup

vegetable spring rolls, prawn toasts, chilli chicken drumsticks, sticky mini ribs and pork dumplings

Beijing Lamb, chicken and cashews, beef in black bean, Singapore noodles and special fried rice

mango and coconut rice pudding

then we polished off a box of after eights between us.

counted up the bottles this morning while making a coffee and coming back to bed and there were 8 bottles of fizz emptied, not bad for 6 us when 2 were driving.
