We always have a haggis with neeps and tatties around Burns night (Jan 25) to mark Fiona's Scottish tree of her ancestry. Or at any time we can find a decent haggis because we adore it.
Only trouble is that we have tried various offerings and brands from supermarkets and some of them have been downright disgusting.
Macsween's always hits the mark. But I guess it ought to given all the awards and the history and all that.
Does anybody else have suggestions for decent brands that may be widely available in the UK?

Erm, I'm Welsh - remember?
Then try Googling for Hhyggyss, TA
Danuta - yes, Waitrose sell them and we are always on the lookout for CFC bargains after Burns night. They freeze well. The small ones feed two and we carve the bigger ones in half before freezing.
Glad to hear that you think they are the best. Just wondered if there were any comparable recommended brands. We certainly have not found one.

I am not a Burns Supper enthusiast, I've only ever been to 2 ( hangs head in shame ) but this year I have been hijacked into doing " the reply to the toast to the lassies" at a nearby village. I am truly dreading it. So if any of you ladies ( or gents ) know of any good stories proving that woman are better ( in any way ) than men,
please pass them on to me.

The last Burns night I went to was actually in Wales (in Aberystwyth). Last year I found a M&S haggis in their CFC which (to my uneducated palate) tasted fine. I wouldn't want to pay full price for it though. I don't have any scotch in the house at the moment, I got a bottle of Tullamore Dew for christmas though. Don't know if that would be an acceptable alternative
