thought I would add this on here for anyone who may wish to try it.
MOCK FISH
1/2 pint of milk
2 ounces of ground rice
1 teasp of chopped onion or leek
a spoonful of margarine the size of a walnut
anchovy essence to season (optional)
1 egg beaten
handful of breadcrumbs
bring milk to a boil in a pan, and remove from heat. Add to the pan the ground rice, onion or leek, margarine and anchovy essence.
Let this simmer for 20 mins, then take pan off the heat and stir in beaten egg, mix well.
transfer to a flat dish and spread out to 7-8 inches in diameter. cut into fish fillet shapes.
brush with milk and roll in breadcrumbs.
fry until golden, serve with parsley sauce.
I let mine stand in the fridge to firm up before coating with breadcrumbs, and cooked in the oven 220 degC for 30 mins turning over halfway.

Well the mock fish did not taste very fishy but it may have done if I had been able to get the anchovy essence. But I liked it and will do it again as it was very cheap to make and did make a change from always having meat. Do not feel so full and bloated. The texture was maybe like one of the cheaper fish fillets, you know the ones where the re shape them from fish pieces.
There are photos on my blog.
