Last night we opened our pack of smoked garlic that Simon sent recently.

Fiona made one of our favourite fast and simple Sausages with cannellini beans recipe. We have this at least once a week recently. she has perfected it to suit our taste and it's one we look forward to.

This time she added a whole bulb into the tomato sauce and beans on which the sausages sit. It added a lovely light smoky dimension. We had half the bulb each on our plates and squished out the cloves to mear on the sausages or just eat whole.

As you can probably tell, we love garlic!

Another use we learned of several years ago - for roasted garlic bulbs - is simply to smear on brown soda bread and serve with soup. Yummy.

Anybody else know of uses? I have seen TA's Roasted smoked garlic soup recipe and I think we will try that next. When we have four of five uses tried and tested Fiona can write about it.

I stored my smoked garlic in olive once the pack was opened so I used both the oil & a couple of cloves, mashed up with herbs & a little breadcrumbs , on some cod fillet. I pounded the garlic, lemon zest & oil with fresh dill, green salad onion stems & lots of parsley, added the breadcrumbs & topped the fillet with the crust, then cooked in my halogen oven. It was delicious & a real treat. I had it with Jersey Royals & spinach & a bottle of perry.  ok
