Hi Everyone, I have been dipping in and out of this forum for a couple of years now. I've discovered a wealth of information from everyone so I thought it was about time I registered and thanked you all.
Thank you all!
My name is Vic, I'm fast approaching 40 but really don't feel middle-aged yet. I am married, mother to two teenage boys and two soft as muck dogs.
I work full time, just biding my time until I win the lottery, then I can have the life I really want - somewhere out of town with a patch of land to grow my own veggies and keep some chickens and goats. Preferably with a small orchard out back
I spend my weekends either walking the dogs/collecting goodies from the hedgerows, or in the kitchen making things with said goodies. Through the week I usually spend my spare time crocheting as I can do that whilst vegging in front of the tv.
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone here and sharing ideas!
Bye for now,
Vic
Hi Vic and welcome, glad you could (finally!! lol) make it. I know we're all a bit mad on here (well, they are ), but we're harmless really. Join in, share your ideas, let us know what these goodies are you make with your foraged stuff, we'd love to know (we're dead inquisitive...ok, nosy hehe).
Oh, and 40's nowhere near middle-aged!!!!!
learning to love veg…..except celery :-O
Welcome Vic
Let me define 'middle age' for you...
'Middle age' on here is when you decide that your 'middle' is too big and try to do something about it....some drop dress sizes for holidays...(you know who you are), I work it off in extreme heat
(beautiful weather in Bulgaria) and others haven't reached middle age yet or refuse to acknowledge it....
We look forward to your contributions....

And canny....she's met your types before......and it's OK Vic....you don't have to divulge the length of your knicker leg to MOS.... but if you do he has amnesia so your secret's safe with him....

Good job you've been lurking, that means you know how mad we all are. Anyway hi from me and glad you took the plunge
Wow, thanks everyone for the welcome!
In answer to your questions, I'll try my hand at pretty much anything in the kitchen - jams, chutneys, curds, jellies. Last year I made sloe gin and cherry brandy for Christmas (that will definitely be an annual event now). This week I had my first attempt at fruit cheese using a cottagesmallholder recipe and very impressed I was too. I bake quite a bit and love cooking for people.
Going by ep's definition of middle-aged, I'm definitely past it! Oh and knicker leg length is far too long!
Vic x
