Well it is sunny - but blowing a gale the last couple of days.
I'm looking forward to being a member here and have read lots of really interesting stuff already. My head is buzzing now with new ideas so thanks already
I would love to download an avatar to personalise my posts but I didn't particularly want to use gravatar - is there any other method that can be used on here?

Hi Maura, welcome on board the good ship CSH. Lots of lovely people, loads of advice (some of it useful!) but also a lot of fun.
What part of Kent are you, I lived just outside Tunbridge Wells for nearly 10 years before moving up here to God's chosen county (Suffolk).
Look forward to hearing more.
I have reached an age where my train of thought often leaves the station without me...
Welcome Maura. Is Maura a Scottish name? Not heard that one before.
Welcome on board, Maura.
Joanna, Maura is popular in Ireland. I think it is a derivation of Máire, The Irish language name for Mary. Like Maureen where "een" is the diminutive = little Mary.
There you go. Free language lessons!
Maura - we don't store avatars on our sever, mainly to minimise disk usage and backup file size etc.
If you wish, get a free email address from Gmail or similar and use that to get your gravatar. I can change the email addr you log in with on this site. That way your gravatar will only appear here and not on other sites.

Welcome from Bulgaria...
I'm the one that if there is a alternate meaning in your posting and I can make full use of it I normally do....it's not vindictive...my sense of fun and I apologise in advance...
It's a good site....and if you get sporked........you're one of the 'boys'...or in my case 'girls'.....
Who lives long sees much : The diary of my life in Bulgaria
Well hello everyone, what a great welcome. I feel at home already
My name is Irish - as was my dear old Mum, sadly no longer with us. I was lucky enough to be named after a favourite Aunty who is probably one of the nicest ladies I have ever known - an impossible act to follow.
I do have a Gmail account so could use that to get an avatar - just don't want it popping up all over the place.
I'm having so much fun this year learning all about different jams and jellys. I only started making jams etc about 18 months ago but already my pantry shelves are full and continually getting raided from the family and friends. I can't describe the pleasure it gives me to produce something that everyone loves and is enjoyed by all ages. My 2 grandsons use the jam every morning and my 2 children love the jam and chutneys. My hubby eats it all!!
I live in NW Kent - very close to the Brands Hatch race circuit (but not too close) and not far from the Bluewater shopping centre (not that I'm a fan of either places). It's a semi rural village and we have been here since 1978 so must like it, but have been looking to downsize to the coast sometime in the next year or so.
Well thats all of you put to sleep so I'll be off and see what I can do with the raspberry/blackberry pulp I have left over from last lot of jelly making.
Bye for now and thanks for a great welcome.
