Hiya, my name is Sue and I was told all about this wonderful Forum by Sooliz , so I popped over to take a peek and found myself signing up.
I live on four acres of rented land in Berkshire with my 4 cats, 3 dogs and an ever increasing number of chickens, everytime one dies I seem to buy two more!! We downsized to here so we can save for our very own patch of land and finally put down long term roots.
We used to breed Rare Breed Pigs and we miss them like mad, but I'm content for the moment growing all our own fruit and veg and looking after my girls (the chickens). Once we move again we will have pigs, goats, a couple of lambs (lawn mowers) and maybe even a little diddy donkey if I can smuggle it in!
I'm a vegetarian and my long suffering other half is a commited carnivore, somehow it all works out okay in the end. He wanted to breed Turkeys for Christmas but I put him off when I said I would want to keep them all as pets!!
(Oh, and the cat in my little picture is Archie, the cheekiest, fluffiest and friendliest of our little bunch.)
Always good to have another vegetarian on board. Welcome
Trying to enjoy life as it is
Hello Sue, fancy seeing you here!
Glad you signed up, you'll have loads of experienced tales to tell. There are several chicken owners on here (alas, not us ), and everyone's interested in gardening, growing veggies, cooking, eating
, home brewing, crafts....oh, and having a good laugh
.
Welcome , we won't even hold the vegetarian bit against you!!
Aly is another veggie with a carnivore OH. Husband and I are confirmed carnivores, but we do enjoy good-tasting veggie dishes too and have a vegetarian day at least once a week.
learning to love veg…..except celery :-O
Welcome Sue, I'm sure your wide experience will be of great help to us. I love my chickens but I do eat the surplus boys when they start getting very noisy. I have Dorkings & Dorking crosses (with White Plymouth Rocks)....nice natured birds & not too heavy for me to manage now I am getting a bit frail. I look forward to your posts & hearing about your plans for the future.

Hiya, thanks for all the nice welcomes Sooliz said you were a nice friendly lot, she was right
brightspark - I wouldn't dream of having 15 cats!! I got the nickname when I used to go on the online dating sites (that's how I met my Lovely Hubby....see sometimes you get lucky!!). I knew if any bloke thought I was a mad middle aged woman with 15 cats he would be a special guy to contact me
Although saying that if there was ever a little moggie that needed a home I can never say no. That's how we ended up with the two extra cats we have now. Our landlord (who is leasing us this house and land while he works in Singapore for 3 years) and his family had two pet cats that they couldn't take with them, so I said 'no problem' to looking after them for the 3 years. Very nicely in return, he pays for his gardener/handyman to come once a month to whip round on the ride on lawn mower and cut all the grass here and do any little jobs we need outdoors. Happy result.
A quick link to my Blog if you want to visit and see what I'm up to at the moment
You're very welcome.
