Anyone ever come across Kale Crisps before? I'm intrigued as to whether they're actually nice? Also does anyone make their own beetroot / parsnip / whatever crisps and do you have an oven method as I don't have a deep fat fryer.
Has anyone tried doing kale crips, or other crisps, in a dehydrator? I gather it can be done, but how? I have the Westfalia dehydrator. A single layer of leaves? Just on the tray? And can it be done with root veg? How thin should they be sliced? and how do you get them evenly thin?
Maybe we need a thread for dehyrator recipes and tips!

Looking forward to hearing the result, Danny!
I harvested the rest of the parsnips, beets/beetroot, and carrots so the new raised bed could have manure added, and because they were starting to grow again, so I have root veg to find things to do with. Some of the beets are edible, carrots are mostly carrot-fly eaten and not worth bothering with, parsnips are excellent. .And the freezer is iced up again so I don't want to freeze them. I may try drying beets in the dehydrator, or seeing if I can find other interesting recipes.
