Lots of people on the forum make crafty stuff- when I read about someone making something I'm always wondering what it looks like- a gallery for finished pieces?Plus problem solving for knitters/crocheters/sewers/painters/whatever?
Kateuk makes things at http://www.etsy.com/shop/finkstuff and sometimes she does this too http://www54paintings.blogspot.com/ and also this http://finkstuff.weebly.com/
Sounds good. I think the problem is the server space for pictures but it might be possible to link up with something that allows groups to be formed to put pictures on, I am being vague here because I think Danny suggested one site I hadn't heard of before and I use Flickr.
I don't have a website, so when the request is for 'URL', I have to be honest, I don't know what that is, or how I can transform my pictures (on Paint Shop Pro) into the thread. I would happily show some of my crafts otherwise.
Even following your 'Avatar' thread, Danny, I couldn't work out how to put in a picture of my own, so I ended up using the beautiful swan picture from the internet.
Not ideal, though.
Oh we must have your pictures available, Brightsprite and everybody else.
Step 1 - reduce the file size of your images (like the typical ones from a digital camera or mobile phone)
It's quite while since I used Paint Shop Pro but I recall an option "Save for web". That reduces the physical size of the image file immensely, like from 2000kb to 30kb. The quality remains very good too. I used it for all my eBay sales photos.
Step 2 - upload them to an online location
I have suddenly remembered a server where I pay for a share of the space. I had forgotten it.
It's a heck of a lot cheaper than the high performance server where this blog and forum live. So I will set up a picture gallery on that and publish details of "how to do it" on here. It may take some elapsed time, but hopefully by next weekend.
My geeky heart is geting excited!

Progress.
What I have in mind is a location where active members can upload their photos and manage their own gallery of images into whatever categories they choose. There will be absolutely no charge and neither will it show advertising.
It will be outside of Cottage Smallholder but accessible in this forum and, of course, you will be free to publish links to your gallery all over the Internet.
There are loads of picture hosting services, like Flickr and Photobucket. But this option will have no restrictive Terms & Conditions. All images will be your sole copyright etc.
We have registered a new domain name (web site name) for this service, which we will publish on here once everything is in place.
I have been searching around for a suitable system (script) and the one I like is this one:
It is Open Source (a good thing). Seeing as they are about to release a Version 3 that is at an advanced stage of Beta testing (almost the final product), we will run with that.
It will take a few days to get it organised and we will ask for volunteers to help to manage and moderate it because my available time is getting squeezed between the day job as well as everything else.
If anybody knows of something better then please let us know.
