Janet, it should allow you 40 minutes grace before the list times out and goes all black.

Ah - I remember a change I had to do to the forum code. I guess that recent upgrades have overwritten it. I shall reset it to 40 now.

Hattie, have you tried re-booting?  Or even refreshing/reloading?

I'll try that again!

I have a search box at the top on the right-hand side which appeared after the last update, to the extreme left of that area it has my name and a downward pointing arrow, do you have that too?

I'll try that again!

Later still:

I think it has to do with Google Chrome because it keeps coming back again on that but it is fine on Firefox.  I will try to find out why as I hate to be defeated by a search engine.......Grrrhhh!!

TA, I tried rebooting & refreshing but it makes no difference. It even righted itself once, for a few minutes but has now gone back to the smaller size.  dalek

Yep, I have got the grey search bar at the top with my name on the rhs and it has been there for quite a while now, like you TA it seems to have arrived with the last upgrade, not a problem.

Regarding Google Chrome, didn't like it when I downloaded it and went back to IE, easier to stick with what I knew, but then they did an upgrade !!

I've been using Chrome for some time now an prefer it to Firefox by far.  It's very fast compared to FF.  I can't stand IE.

I'll try that again!

TA, maybe I will have another look at Chrome. I have to say that IE is not the quickest thing off the blocks but it is at least familiar, sort of..

Sounds like it is the way that Chrome renders the forum style. I use FF and there has been no change for me like the one you are describing. I will give it a test run in Chrome tomorrow evening.

Danny this reduction in width only happened at lunchtime yesterday (on Chrome). In the morning it was as usual. It does not affect the width of the whole layout either it only reduces where the posts are actually printed & the Quote, Report & Edit buttons are.

It mostly works, but the spell checker doesn't seem to work, and the drop-down new or unread posts menu has a dark grey background until I move the cursor over it, sometimes. Sometimes it is light grey and legible from the start.
