I could be wrong TA, but I think the charge doesn't apply if the money comes straight out of your bank account.  I don't think there was a charge on mine.

Aly, if you email Danny on the address that he gave for his paypal account, he will send you his postal address.

I'll try that again!

wave Toni, Paypal said that if you were paying for goods or services you did not have to pay extra.  I just ticked that I was as that is what we are really paying for and no charge was added.

I feel much better knowing we are contributing to the cost of running the site and it not all being left with Fiona and Danny!  smile

Thanks for that info Danuta, I shall file that bit of knowledge.  I agree with you about contributing too, it is something I have wanted to do for a long time.

I'll try that again!

I think the option of paying for goods/services means that the seller (i.e. Danny) has to pay a charge.

Simon brought that to my attention when I was about to pay for something I'd ordered from him, I was unaware of it before.

Too late, I have done the Paypal thing.  Besides, I haven't written a cheque in years so have no idea where the cheque book might be...

I'll try that again!

Wow - that started quite a conversation!

Never mind about PayPal fees at our end - it looks like we will more than cover the cost, so thank you all very much indeed for PayPal funds received and promises of crisp notes in the post. All will go to Fiona who said that any excess will be squirelled away for future forum requirements. I will thank people individually once I get the PMs working!

Looking at the new software, it is very different from the current configuration, with all sorts of templates etc. to be learned and implemented. So I need to hit the books before I attempt the upgrade. The Cancer Research shop is short staffed tomorrow (Sat) and I volunteered to fill the gap so that leaves tomorrow afternoon and Sun to crack on with it.

Never knowingly underfed
