wave I don't use the back button. I just go to the top of the page again and there they are as Aly said- same as before.

But if you use the back button on the page, it takes you to the top very quickly.

I'll try that again!

But when I've read a post, if I then go up to the top of the page and press the 'topics with unread posts' button, it still shows the same number of unread posts, even though I've just read one. And the order of posts seems to change.....sometimes newest unread posts are at the top, sometimes down the bottom. I think i'm just confusing myself more and more.....confused

wave confused I do not have that problem. Unread posts are just highlighted and the number available goes down as I read them unless of course someone posts when I am online, but I don't know which is newest when I go on. Whatever, it works for me quite easily and smoothly. Am I missing something?

I get the same as Danuta does.

I'll try that again!

There is what looks like an arrow folding back on itself in every post and at the bottom of the last post on that subject- just click on that and it takes you back to the top.

Yes, I understand that Martin, but what I'm saying is that the number of unread posts doesn't change for me. E.g., now when I press the 'topics with unread posts' button, I get the box with about half a dozen of the latest posts in it, the first of which is one which Val posted a couple of hours ago, the last being a reply TA did to Danuta in the weather thread. And yet I've already read those, and I know there have been a few newer posts since then. Yours in this thread, for instance! But they don't show up on the 'unread posts' box. confusedwhat_the_heck Like I said, I'm just confusing myself more and more. I think I'll abandon the 'unread posts' button at the top altogether and just look down the page to see where the latest posts are.

Right, I misunderstood- mine works OK, I just see new posts. I did see a button that said "clear unread posts" I think as I did have a residual post that was read but still showed in the number list, but not on the list.

Sue I have a similar issue - the 'unread' topics doesn't go back to zero, despite going through the blue highlighted list of updated topics.
To the right of the number of unread topics are 3 little icons, with the closest one referring to unread posts, but after clicking on that, it says 'none found' steam
Oh well, can't win 'em all! laugh

I'm glad it's not just me, Val. I realise it's early days and Danny obviously still has work to do on the site (well done that man for what he's achieved so far), so I'll just muddle (blunder!) along until (hopefully!) it all gets sorted.

I will close the site down for a while and attempt to find the root cause of some of the problems.
It's likely that some element of the blog is interfering.
I myself cannot even reply to a post under my Admin user ID.

It looks like we have isolated the cause of the problems.
Seems to be one of the 36 plugins that are pretty important for the functionality of Fiona's blog. It was the Easy Recipe one, which formats some recipe articles so that they can easily be printed etc.
I have deactivated it for the time being.
So can you please check if the faults and issues you experienced are still happening.
Now that I have my Admin tools back, I will lock this topic and open a new one for the Snag List.
