Crikey, Danuta, you are teaching me a thing or two!

I did not know about that option.

Now I can't open my profile steam

In any case, down in the bottom green bit (at the top right of it) you can see where it says Forum Timezone is set to UTC (GMT essantially) +1 although the plus sign does not show. The time on my posts is correct when I view them. Another puzzling glitch?

Sue, I will check that out. Maybe some images got lost in the recent server move.

When inserting links, there are just two steps really:

1 - highlight the text that you want to convert into a link

2 - then the link icon becomes enabled and you can click on it

Sue, open the page that you want to link to

highlight the line that has www on it

right click to Copy

come back to your post and highlight a word that relates to the link

on the blue bar at the top of your post you will then see a chain link

right click on that then hit Paste

Write this instruction on a post-it note and stick to your computer…

Done.

I'll try that again!

Oh gawd - I don't know why the smileys get shuffled about!

It is annoying, isn't it?

Probably caused by me this morning when I copied the text equivalents of the emoticons for Simon.

Blame him big_laugh

TA - maybe your problem with reading PMs is related to your browser rather than your old or new laptop. I say that because some forum features suddenly stopped working in Opera for me. I reinstalled the forum software on the server but they still do not work in Opera. Fine in Firefox.

It is a nuisance though.

Val - Danuta is right about setting your time zone in your profile. It's on the Personal Options tab. brightsparklystuff

I can no longer change the time in Profile Personal Options this is what I get:-

Image Enlarger

As for Browser, I use Chrome on both computers but I can only open PMs on the old machine.

I'll try that again!

Edit: Val, the forum time is set to BST. There is no option to adjust it for local time, sadly.

What is strange here, I don't want to change it from the forum – no - I didn't explain very well, sorry!

I can see the current time on the pc, but when I post, it registers an hour earlier – that's what I didn't understand, as I haven't changed anything, and I wondered why my posts give the wrong time ….

 “Curiouser and curiouser!”

Cried Alice (she was so much surprised, that for the moment she quite forgot how to speak good English).

but, come to think of it – does it matter much??? whistle

TA - I can see your Personal Options details in your profile (as an Admin). Why you can't is a mystery to me. You probably can on your old laptop but that's not much use.

Anyway, you had your timezone set to +1 hours faster than the server time, so you were on CEST. I changed it to zero difference.

Val, yours is set to -1

I have not changed it.

On my old computer it is the same in profile as on the new one.  I have just done ctrl f5 and now I can't open PMs here either!

Wonder what time will show now???

I'll try that again!

And the wheel of death was back!  I've blocked that now with AdBlock Plus.

I'll try that again!

I tried using Chrome on Fiona's laptop and some forum features do not work on that. Like opening a user profile by clicking on the name to the left of a post.

But they ought to.

It's very similar to the way it was a few days ago. doh

Sorry about the wheel of death - I forgot to remove it after I reloaded the forum software. Gone now.
