Can anyone more techie-minded than me (that's just about everybody then) help me?
My yahoo email account has been hacked twice in the past fortnight, I've changed my password each time but have just been informed (thank you and sorry, Paperman Chris, and anyone else who's had a suspect email from me) that it's happened a 3rd time this morning.
I don't know what else to do, other than shutting down my yahoo account. Any ideas anyone? It's driving me nuts

When my account was hacked several times Sue I changed my password to include lot's of numbers and characters and it hasn't happened since, it makes it hard to remember and I have to keep it written down but it is better than being hacked. Other than that you can close that Yahoo account and open a new one.
Never give up Tomorrow is another day.
I know we're supposed to have strong passwords that include numbers and/or symbols, and not to use the same password for everything (I have several passwords). The trouble is, it's so difficult to remember which password I've used for which site. And of course we're not supposed to write them down.......

I heard we should all change all of our passwords because of the "heartbleed" virus. I haven't got around to it yet but intend to do it soon. I also keep them all in a notebook (very tattered) as I could never remember them even though some are similar (or the same) as others. My bad!!
Home is where the heart is.
I keep all my login details in a password protected file, so I only have to remember one password to open that file to look up the password for a website. Since so many sites expect a login - bank, shopping, insurance, email, forums and many more, there's no way anyone can remember unique passwords for each. Apart from a handful of sites, I can never remember which password I used for which site so having them written down somewhere is essential really.

Sue, not sure if you want to do this, but when a friend of mine had his hotmail address hacked a couple of years ago, microsoft told him to change his password every day for 2 weeks, to do it at different times of the day and to use letters and numbers every time( and caps and small letters). It did seem to work and I followed that plan when I got hacked not long after, it did seem to work. A lot of effort, I know.
Oh blimey Jan, that is a lot of messing around - but I suppose it's worth it if it does the trick. I just wish I knew why it's happened so many times in the past couple of weeks.....if I understood how/why it's happened, it might make it easier to understand how to deal with it so there's little chance of it happening again.
Sometimes I just hate the bloody computer - it's fine while it's working alright, but for technophobes like me it's such a bugger to sort out when things go wrong....I panic and dither and my mind goes blank and messes things up when I'm trying to follow instructions people give me. I have a friend who normally sorts out my computer problems but he's just too busy for me to even think of asking him right now
