Others have mentioned this, so it's not just me being blonde, Danny! 
There was a Crochet thread in the list of Unread/Recently Updated topics at the bottom, I had a look then went off to look at something else, then came back to reply to the thread and it's disappeared from the list
It is there in the Topics above, but not in the list below, if you see what I mean.
This happens quite often......threads disappearing from the list below.

...... and yet others 'Catarrh'; and 'Am I a bad person' have stayed despite not being used!!!!
Yep, I think I have mentioned this before. Very strange indeed!

Now this thread and another one, 'Today's Rant' have both disappeared from the list below.
Val has mentioned 2 threads that she can obviously see in her list, yet they're not showing in mine......I'm beginning to wonder if each of us sees different topics/threads in our lists. It just gets weirder!

Danny, I still have within the listing of unread topics, some, i.e. "Catarrh"; and "Am I a bad person?" even though they haven't been added to for some while. Yet others disappear immediately after reading them.
Today, Tina has found that the "Good Morning" thread has disappeared on her list - though not on mine!
Sue has also noticed this because she doesn't have the same topics remaining as I do.
Something is amiss here.
I thought it was time to consult the oracle, so I'm letting you know right now!!
