ROBERT: I think at our age we have earned the right to follow our dream, wherever, whatever as long as we are not hurting other people.

I can't see what advantage you get with this site over some of the free ones except I guess you don't have adverts and at $30 p.a. it isn't that expensive. I guess I would probably use one of the free ones to start and if people around you were interested then you could switch to myfamily.com or similar later

I have reached an age where my train of thought often leaves the station without me...

The biggest one is facebook and it is constantly being hacked and the owner is reported to be in negotiations to sell off all the names etc, how much truth there is in this is unclear, the other problem is if they decide to close you loose everything you have done. I have unlimited space at Hostpapa and would like to do it on there but as I say not sure if they are interested. We have the right to move and to change our life, but children today are very into being self self self, so it is hard if you dont agree with them they just cut you off, unless of course you have money.

Cheremi, we too moved away from the UK to Bulgaria, Im 60 this year my dear partner is 65, my son still refuses to talk to me, saying I deserted the family, my daughters are happyish, we talk very regularly on 'skype' which keeps us intouch with the grandchildren and family and numerous friends.

Cheremi, my dear, I wrestled with my conscience for so long about leaving the ' family' quite frankly we have such a happy, free uncomplicated life here now, I am teaching myself to paint, we go to pottery/sculpture classes, we have planted an orchard, built an arbour we have 5 dogs and 3 cats and love our life ( and when the girls hint about not having money for some new amazing thing, I condifidently say 'do you really need it!')  ( We spent so much of our savings on the girls but we cant do it any more!)

Enjoy your life and dream youve worked hard for it dear x

I think one of our sons is angry with us but he can't do without us as he still needs some support being at Uni, one of our sons comes out as often as he can and even proposed to his girlfriend here and our daughter loves to come out and is behind us all the way. They all knew we were crackers anyway so not a problem. whistle If you think back to the important lessons you ever learnt from anyone and hopefully you are demonstrating that, sometimes we have to lay down dreams for others and sometimes for the sake of others we have to persue them and we don't always get it the right way around but love does cover an awful lot.

If you are worried about facebook rumours, one of the best sites I know of is Snopes.com which investigates the truth of urban legends and set things in perspective.

I use blogger and being open forum of course I cannot always say what I want to say even if I know some folks won't read it but I don't think it is fair, so I understand you wanting something a bit more private.wave

Kind words indeed thank you so much. I would not mind so much if they made an effort when we lived very close, but I saw very little of them. It makes it all sound as if maybe I was a horrible Dad, who knows, still I have my baby with me still Charles but he is so different to the others. Still on good terms with my ex and I must say that I am not putting the blame on her as I know that being a Truck driver and being away is just no life when you have a family.

Was digging in the foundations today, let me explain that the foundations on these older properties consist of a type of soil directly under the tiles. So anyway had to take out part of the wall near the window was digging out all the mud etc when guess what popped it's little head up, A bl**dy Viper aspic got confirmationfrom neighbours etc. I got to tell you that I am dead scared of snakes and spiders, anyway I picked it up with my trowel and popped it into a storage jar. All said, give it to the chickens, but I looked at it through the glass of course and thought, mate you have done me no harm so I shall be kind and set you free, it is now sliding about in the hedge row somewhere.

Well I hope it brought happiness to life and fond memories. There are some really beutifull singers on you tube like this little girl who is just an angel from heaven and I am so glad I saw her before I go to the next place in life.

My daughter is proud of me too saying that I spent so long looking out for them that I deserve some time to myself...as for my son....I've asked him for photos of the grandchildren and he can post on Facebook so I can pick them up but no direct posts...what is it with children....

I've even offered to pay the air fare but no takers yet....confusedconfused  and don't you lot start asking for free handouts....big_laughbig_laugh

Lol. My youngest hasn't been out since we moved here - he has been to Latvia when we came as a family so it wouldn't be a shock. My middle child has been out three times now but not sure if he can make it out this year due to job clashes but I know he would love to. We have to fund flights too for the younger ones, the older one we won't on the basis that we are not flying her and her husband all the way from Australia - you can forget that. whistle I do find though the girls are much better at keeping in touch than the lads, so I speak more to my daughter-in-law than my son and only spoke to him the other day because I suggested it would be nice to talk to him and the poor guy was put on the computer as soon as he got home from work dohcheers
