Thanks Toni, for the introduction - I have downloaded Annie's free pattern for the vintage WW1 baby hat - trying to get inspired to knit/crochet something for the 100-years-of-knitting-exhibition.
Are you still contemplating that, I thought you would be well on with it now? There is this site too, you can go back as 1940s with it...

Toni, when I finish an item for this, then I have to get inspired again for something else (see the knitting thread).
The child's gaiters turned out beautifully, and am currently doing the knee warmers (the American lady organising the event referred to them as 'comforters' - I thought comforters were something else ...). What do I know!!
After that, I have the child's hat I mentioned earlier, and the bra and suspender belt set to do.
