What is NaNoWriMo? It’s a project that has almost seduced me for a few years now. Run from Berkley, California this is a project designed to get people writing.

I’ve been toying with writing a novel for the last few months. I don’t have a subject, genre or plot so the thought has wafted away on a stream of nothingness. When I saw that NaNoWriMo was trending on Twitter I decided to act on the nudge and finally take the plunge.
By the time that I mentioned it to Danny, I had registered so there was no going back.“But how are you going to do this? You don’t have enough time!”
Actually I do. If I focus a bit more. It’s very easy to let the days just drift by. Well that’s what I suspect. And the writing – well let’s just see what happens.
Anyhow when I signed up I was surprised to be asked for a title, synopsis and extract. It was not even November 1st yet! My mind whirled but, determined to prove D wrong, I came up with a flexible title and an extract. The extract is true but the rest of the novel will be fashioned out of whatever I clutch from the air over the next few weeks. If you join and want to take a peek, my user name is Machino.
NaNoWriMo is a great project. It funds writing projects in schools and libraries, reaching out to wanabe potential authors from 0-100+. As someone who dives into books regularly to bask and repair they have my total support.

Great to hear about all you brave folk trying NaNoWriMo – good luck to you all. I wouldn’t have minded having a go too but got another writing commitment to finish first so not a good time. But after writing two non-fiction books, a novel is next on my list! Love the blog. My own garden has seen a lack of TLC this year, but off to pick some winter salad leaves now and I’ve got a few toms still hanging on in the greenhouse!

Well done on your article in the Tele! I know it was last week or so, but I’ve been a bit busy idling about. I loved the bit about “Even shoved in a cockerel that had to go as it was annoying the neighbours.” That bit really cracked me up, eating the evidence!

I took the plunge too Fiona and Louisa (I’m Sann38 on the NaNoWriMo site). Having never signed up for anything like this before, it will be an interesting month! Like Fiona, I have no plot yet but the first 188 words were written this morning and I’ll see where the other 40-odd-thousand take me! Good luck with your writing journeys this month.

I’m NaNoWriMo-ing too!
I’ve meant to do it for the last few years but previously forgotten about it until about a week in – too late to start. This year I remembered about it on 1st October so have spent the last month planning — and I’ve written 4091 words today!

I wouldn’t even know where to begin with writing something fictitious. So well done for getting involved in the project – I’ve heard about it already on another blog so it must be a big trend!

Go for it fiona! I won’t be joining you – but shall cheer you from the sidelines!
Quite a few of my friends have done it and say it’s a really worthwhile experience.
I don’t know how you’ll find the time what with the new allotment,blogging etc etc.Looks like Danny may have a few extra little jobs to do around the house…..
