I received my first Jaquie Lawson Christmas card seven years ago. It was one of her Chudleigh (black Labrador) cards. I was thrilled. Great animation and top marks on the feel good factor. Then I forgot all about them. A couple of years ago an old friend started sending us Jaquie Lawson cards at Christmas and Easter. Planning my decorating week, I checked the weather forecast last night as I still have a backlog of outdoor jobs. The symbols indicated that it would be misty and foggy all day. Too damp to paint outside. But this meant that I’d be snug indoors, beside someone else’s Aga in a house where the central heating is always on. What do you want for Christmas?

We’ve been working so hard recently that I think I’m beginning to lose touch. Pointing the jalopy’s nose homeward this evening, I was surprised to see a Christmas tree strung with lights in Saffron Walden High Street. Why not? It’s December after all.
